Delhi experiences first 'poor' air quality day of the season

caution

Delhi has recorded its first 'poor' air quality day this season, with an AQI of 245, the highest in 100 days, according to The Week. The Air Quality Early Warning System predicts that the AQI will remain in the 'poor' category for the next two days, with a similar outlook for the following six days.

In response to this situation, the Commission for Air Quality Management has implemented Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan across Delhi-NCR. Residents are advised to reduce outdoor exposure, consider using air purifiers, and watch for symptoms such as eye irritation, throat discomfort, and respiratory issues.

This situation highlights the importance of being aware of air quality, especially for those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents of Delhi should take precautions to minimize exposure to air pollution.

What to do

  • Limit outdoor activities, especially during peak pollution hours.
  • Use air purifiers indoors to help improve air quality.
  • Wear masks designed to filter out pollutants when outside.
  • Monitor for symptoms like eye irritation or respiratory issues.
  • Consult a healthcare professional if you experience worsening health conditions.
